Detroit native Dantiez Saunderson released ‘Place Called Home’ on the Defected imprint in March. The three track EP included the original version of ‘Place Called Home’ along with a Deep Edit Dub from Detroit legend (and Dantiez father) Kevin Saunderson, as well as ‘The Harp’. These tracks were an impressive introduction for Dantiez to the dance music community, and it comes as no surprise that ‘Place Called Home’ returns to Defected with remixes courtesy of MK and Cristoph.
The driving force of MK’s remix is the chopped up rhythm of LaRae Starr’s vocal which, combined with the track’s simple hook and understated production style, has a profound anthemic effect and plays out in tune with MK’s signature 90’s sound. Cristoph delivers a remix and dub to the release; both impressive tracks which directly speak to why Cristoph’s career is exponentially driving forward. His remix is a real stand out on the EP as La Rae Starr’s vocals reverberate above the track’s deep and darker layers, and form a remix that comes together as an up-lifting dancefloor weapon. The Dub strips things back to emphasise the darker tone of his remix.
